This book captures your attention on page one and does not let you down chapter after chapter. Dr. Crockett recreates in a dynamic way ancient Rome, while both educating the reader and keeping the reader wanting for more, more and some more. He does a great job in informing the reader of things they perhaps do not know about this most important period without making them feel awkward or worst. I know because I was one of those little informed readers. Thank you Dr. Crockett for a work well done, but most importantly for igniting in me a desire to take a fresh look at this most trying time for Christians and our faith.My recommendation? Put some money aside, because you will want to buy several copies of this great book for all of your family and friends. ENJOY.

Crockett has yet to fail me with his fiction. Read it with gusto and wanted to have the story continue. Well done. Fiction buffs of Roman Historical fiction will love this one.
A Celt in Rome was a great read and I couldn't put it down once I picked it up! The author does a great job bringing to life each character throughout the novel and especially towards the end. Not only are you reading a novel but you are also learning history. If you want a good read with accurate historical context then A Celt in Rome is the book! I highly recommend it to anyone!
This book was great!! Historically accurate, fun to read, and so many great characters. This book never gets boring with so many subplots and different storylines and leaves the reader wanting more. Hope, Crockett writes a part 3 because the 500 pages went by so fast with all its exciting adventures leaving me on the edge of my seat!! This book brings the time of antiquity to life!! Love it!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book...couldn't put it down. I didn't want it to end. I felt I got to know the characters. I don't want you to read ahead, but Chapter 49 brought me deeply into the character Marcellus' mind. I highly recommend it.
Good story; good plot; Having read a lot of books, I fond it good, but not as good as some. A bit like Dashiell Hammett or Raymond Chandler in a Roman setting.
Dr Crockett obviously did extensive research. But his discoveries are wrapped in the most engaging imagery. This book is better than a travelogue -- its depth of characters, breadth of historical fact and height of suspense and emotion were a thrilling ride. Highly recommended. A word of caution, however do not begin reading this novel before bedtime unless you are quite disciplined about closing the book and turning out the light, or it will cost you some sleep!
An enjoyable read while in Rome this year - appreciated the insight into interaction between Romans, Celts and other provincials in the time period. Appealing and (mostly) courageous characters and the insight into religious ideas of the tiime (and the development of a Christian subtheme) made the book a compelling experience.
